‘The Marvels’ is a 2023 American superhero film that is based on Marvel Comics. In this movie, Hoang had a notable role in a battle scene where he appeared alongside more than 100 other actors. Despite its short duration, the scene required a significant amount of time for rehearsals, makeup preparation, and meticulous filming.
After the film premiered in Vietnamese theaters, Hoang shared his excitement on Facebook, stating, “I was fortunate to be part of the action team in a small scene in the movie ‘The Marvels.’ When you visit the theater, keep an eye out for any Vietnamese names in the credits.”
Prior to his role in ‘The Marvels,’ Hoang had a minor role in the 2016 movie ‘Doctor Strange,’ which is also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this movie, he briefly appeared in a scene at the fictional Kamar-Taj temple, where the main character, Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), observes the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) teaching magic to two students.

In this scene, Hoang portrayed one of the two students being taught magic by the Ancient One. He shared that his luck in landing these roles came from having a friend who was acquainted with the film’s action director, which helped him establish connections in other Hollywood productions.
Hailing from Hanoi, Hoang’s family moved to London when he was 11 years old. In England, he studied Shaolin martial arts and later pursued a career as an action actor. He made his debut in the Indian action film ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ and gradually secured supporting and lead roles in various Hollywood movies, including ‘Ready Player One,’ ‘Star Wars: Han Solo,’ ‘The Covenant,’ ‘The Witcher,’ and ‘The Marvels.’
In 2021, Hoang played the lead role in the Vietnamese action film ‘Vo Sinh Dai Chien’ (Battle of the Fists). Unfortunately, the movie did not perform well at the box office. Currently, Hoang is actively seeking acting opportunities in international films.
