The upcoming game will be held at the Prince Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It will be broadcast live on the national channel VTV6 as well as the FPT Play platform.
Singapore began their campaign in the tournament with a 1-3 loss against Thailand at the same stadium on Wednesday. To avoid elimination, a victory over Vietnam in the upcoming match on Saturday is crucial for the Singaporean players.
Vietnam has brought its U21 team to the tournament in Cambodia. On Friday, four players and a coach from the team had suspected positive COVID-19 tests, according to the Vietnam Football Federation. The Singaporean squad also includes several coronavirus cases.
Indonesia and Myanmar had withdrawn from the tournament due to player shortage caused by the pandemic.
The 2022 AFF U23 Youth Championship is divided into three groups. Group A includes hosts Cambodia, Timor Leste, the Philippines, and Brunei. Group B consists of Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Laos. Vietnam and arch-rivals Thailand have been placed in Group C alongside Singapore.
The top team from each group and the best second-placed team will advance to the semifinals.
The championship began on Monday and will conclude on February 26.
