The Vietnamese theatrical production garnered accolades in four prestigious categories: Best Play, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress.

This achievement marks a historic milestone for the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. It represents the first time a southern-style cải lương performance has been showcased at an international event in China, earning such distinguished recognition.

Titled “Eclipse,” the play is a masterpiece crafted by playwright Le Duy Hanh and brought to life under the direction of Le Nguyen Dat. It chronicles the journey of young individuals deeply passionate about the art of cải lương. Despite facing life’s adversities, they dedicate themselves to preserving and evolving this traditional art form, ensuring its legacy for future generations.

Drawing inspiration from Le Duy Hanh’s earlier work, “Diễn kịch một mình” (Performing Alone), which captivated audiences, “Eclipse” has been staged eight times under the visionary direction of meritorious artist Le Nguyen Dat.

The esteemed judging panel lauded the Vietnamese production for its exceptional contribution to safeguarding the traditional art of reformed opera, resonating deeply with viewers.
