The victory earned Vietnam the bronze medal at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship, for the fifth time, after claiming it in 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2019.

Vietnam’s best achievement at the AFF Futsal Championship was the runner-up title in 2009 and 2012.

By winning the bronze medal, Vietnam also secured the last Southeast Asian ticket to the 2022 AFC Asian Futsal Cup, which will see 16 Asian teams compete in Kuwait from September 25 to October 20.

Apart from hosts Kuwait, eight other teams have qualified for the tournament — Lebanon, Bahrain, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
