Harry Loh, CEO of UOB Vietnam, said, “The pandemic has upended the lives of people from all walks of life, especially those living in areas under lockdown. With movement restrictions in place to combat the spread of Covid-19, many families are unable to go out to purchase food and other essential items. We hope that through our food donation, we can play a part in helping people stay safe at home while also lessening their worries about where their next meal will come from during the lockdown.”

Le Minh Phat, chairman of the Ben Nghe Ward government, said, “Many people in the Ben Nghe Ward have been affected by the lockdown as the virus continues to spread. In such difficult times, we are grateful that companies such as UOB Vietnam have shown support to individuals, families and communities in need. The food donation by UOB Vietnam will enable those under lockdown to meet their daily needs even as they stay home.”

Since the outbreak of the pandemic early last year, UOB Vietnam has been making donations in cash and kind to support vulnerable communities. The latest donation from UOB Vietnam follows earlier community efforts including a contribution to the Vietnam Covid Vaccine Fund.

UOB established its presence in Vietnam with the opening of a representative office in 1993 and was the first Singapore bank to launch a branch in the country in HCMC in 1995. Today, UOB Vietnam offers a range of financial services to both Vietnamese and overseas customers across the country backed by the seamless connectivity offered through the UOB regional network.
