On October 15, during the 222nd session of the UNESCO Executive Board in Paris, France, a significant endorsement was granted.
Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, leading Vietnam’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, unveiled the initiative. She emphasized culture’s pivotal role in driving sustainable development and tackling global challenges, aiming for a secure, peaceful, and prosperous future worldwide.
The roadmap outlines submission to the UNESCO General Conference in November 2025, followed by presentation to the United Nations General Assembly in 2026.
This endorsement by the Executive Board marks a pivotal initial step toward Vietnam’s global initiative. It underscores Vietnam’s commitment to deep international integration, cultural revitalization, and the advancement of multilateral and cultural diplomacy.
Vietnam’s proposal significantly supports UNESCO’s cultural mission, reflecting its proactive role as an Executive Board member (2021–2025). The initiative has garnered widespread support from member states and accolades from UNESCO leadership.
The adoption of Vietnam’s proposal reinforces its growing influence and credibility within UNESCO and globally. It highlights the initiative’s alignment with international priorities, particularly in addressing contemporary global challenges.
