Through the lens of six photographers spanning generations and artistic styles, this exhibition prompts viewers to contemplate the intricate interplay between time, space, and personal identity.
At the opening ceremony, Aldo de Luca, Switzerland’s Deputy Ambassador, highlighted the Swiss Embassy’s vision for the exhibition: to foster cultural exchange between Vietnamese and Swiss artists, offer fresh perspectives on urban life and humanity to Vietnamese audiences, and establish a meaningful platform for both local and international artistic expression.
This exhibition is a key component of the Photo Hanoi ’25 International Photography Biennale, a collaborative effort between Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports and the French Institute in Vietnam.
Featured artists include Beat Streuli, Alfio Tommasini, and Matthieu Gafsou from Switzerland, alongside Vietnamese talents Le Nguyen Duy Phuong, Tran Vinh Dat, and Bach Nam Hai.
“Time and the Cities” presents a diverse array of temporal experiences and the relentless pace of urban existence. By merging photography with video, and stillness with motion, the exhibition delves into the multifaceted relationship between space and time. When these contrasting elements are juxtaposed, they unveil a universal life rhythm—birth, growth, work, and passing—that transcends borders. Within this visual narrative, time is anchored in humanity, defined by the fleeting nature of life, as noted by the organizers.
The exhibition is open to the public until November 22.
