Trinh Café, a vibrant and bustling coffee chain with four strategic locations across Da Nang, the cultural heart of central Vietnam, has become the go-to destination for those seeking an enchanting early morning ritual. Its stand on Bach Dang pedestrian street in Hai Chau District is particularly popular among locals and tourists alike.

To accommodate its dedicated patrons, the café now opens its doors at the crack of dawn, 4:00 am sharp. However, you’ll often find enthusiastic young people already queued up, eagerly awaiting their turn to secure the best seats to witness the sunrise.

It’s not uncommon for some customers to go the extra mile for this extraordinary experience. Waking up in the wee hours of the morning, as early as 2:00 or 3:00 am, they meticulously choose their outfits, apply makeup with precision, and embark on a journey of over 10 kilometers just to savor their morning cup of Joe, even if it means battling through the remnants of sleepiness.

Eighteen-year-old local, Phan Thanh Vuong, shared his thrilling experience of arriving at the café at 4:00 am with his friends, only to find a line already snaking around the corner. “It’s an exhilarating and one-of-a-kind experience,” he said, “sipping coffee while watching the sunrise, although I must admit, the early morning rise does make me a bit sleepy.”

For many, this early morning coffee excursion has transformed into a trendy ritual, one that they are eager to incorporate into their schedules, even if it means sacrificing a few extra hours of sleep and risking tardiness to school or work.

Others opt for a strategic nap after their early morning caffeine fix, ensuring they stay energized throughout the day.

Among the eager early birds was 20-year-old Cao Ngoc Truong Thinh, a student at Duy Tan University in Da Nang. With no classes the next day, he strategically planned to catch up on sleep later, embracing the freedom and flexibility of student life.

“As students, we embrace our free time and relish the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the latest trends,” Thinh shared. “And let’s face it, during exam season, we’re often burning the midnight oil anyway, so forgoing sleep for coffee and a sunrise is almost a breeze.”

The café owner attributed the success of this dawn phenomenon to their strategic decision to open earlier and the allure of their ‘Early Bird’ stickers, which have become a coveted symbol among young locals and tourists alike.
