HCM City is set to make its mark at the Frankfurt Book Fair with an impressive 88 sq. m booth, the largest representation for a Vietnamese entity to date. This year’s participation showcases an extensive range of books, documents, visuals, and publications offering a window into the city’s vibrant culture, thriving economy, education system, and publishing market.
The booth has more than tripled in size since the city’s debut at the fair in 2023, reflecting HCM City’s commitment to promoting its cultural offerings and engaging with the global publishing community. Trinh Huu Anh, Head of the Publishing, Printing, and Distribution Division, emphasizes the city’s proactive encouragement of local publishing houses and distributors to join this prestigious event.
City leaders recognize the booth as more than just a display; it serves as a cultural ambassador, fostering connections and showcasing Vietnam’s rich heritage and modern achievements. Anh also shares HCM City’s aspiration to consistently participate in the fair, aiming to be considered for the prestigious Guest of Honour status.
Beyond the exhibition, the delegation will actively engage in discussions with fair organizers, seeking guidance on book fair organization and forging connections with international publishing partners. They will also connect with the Vietnamese community in Frankfurt through the Consulate General, promoting cultural exchange and a love for reading.
Additionally, a meeting with the organizers of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy is anticipated to offer valuable insights into developing a robust reading culture for children.
The Frankfurt Book Fair, organized by Frankfurter Buchmesse GmbH, has been a pivotal event for the publishing industry since 1949. It provides an invaluable platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing content, and fostering collaborations across all genres, from literature to scientific databases.
