Phu Quoc International Airport and the island’s many tourist attractions and accommodations are committed to sustainability, as evident in their choice of serving customers with paper cups, bamboo straws, and wooden spoons.

Vasilenko Daria, a Russian tourist, recently experienced the beauty of Phu Quoc Island with her loved ones and was impressed by its eco-friendly initiatives.

Phu Quoc’s pristine natural landscapes, white sandy beaches, and crystal clear waters create an idyllic setting. The island’s locals are renowned for their warm hospitality, further enhancing the visitor experience.

Eco-consciousness is a priority for tourist sites and accommodations on the island, as they opt for paper cups and bamboo straws, reducing their environmental footprint.

“Phu Quoc Island left a lasting impression on me,” expressed Daria, “as it demonstrates a clear commitment to environmental protection. The use of paper cups and bamboo straws for tourists is a commendable step.”

Tran Quoc Chau, director at Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc, understands that embracing environmentally responsible practices is not just a choice but a necessity for the tourism industry’s sustainable development.

While eco-friendly products may carry a higher price tag than plastic, the resort chooses to bear the cost, prioritizing the preservation of the island’s natural beauty and creating a positive impression on travelers from all over the world.

“Tourists appreciate our commitment to eco-friendly practices,” emphasized Chau, “and we are dedicated to transforming this resort into a luxurious haven synonymous with environmental stewardship on Phu Quoc Island.”

Autogrill VFS F&B, with a presence at Phu Quoc International Airport, has taken a strong stance against plastic pollution. Nguyen Thi Thanh Trang, manager of their stores, shared that their food and beverage establishments have completely ditched plastic bags, cups, and straws for more sustainable alternatives.

As of January 2024, their efforts have resulted in a remarkable 95% reduction in plastic waste. Their establishments now exclusively use paper cups and straws, along with eco-friendly spoons and boxes, contributing to the larger goal of environmental protection on the island.

Nguyen Minh Dong, director of Phu Quoc International Airport, confirmed that many stores and restaurants within the airport have embraced eco-friendly practices. “With millions of visitors passing through our airport each year,” Dong stated, “we are committed to environmental protection and encouraging sustainable practices among our tourists and airport establishments.”
