The Ancient Bat Trang Village of Hanoi: Now Easier to Access by Public Transport

Hanoi’s bus network is getting a traveler-friendly upgrade, making it easier for visitors to explore the city’s historic attractions, including the renowned Bat Trang pottery village. With additional bus routes, Bat Trang is now more accessible than ever.

The Hanoi Department of Transportation is committed to enhancing the visitor experience. Their recent approval of a new bus network plan, including 136 intra-provincial and 18 inter-provincial routes, introduces a city tour bus route, CITR 04. This route conveniently connects Hoan Kiem Lake to Bat Trang Pottery Village, operating from Monday to Friday. On weekends, the route departs from the picturesque Dien Hong Flower Garden.

The CITR 04 bus route is designed with tourists in mind, starting from Hoan Kiem Lake (Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square) and ending at the Bat Trang Pottery Museum, offering a seamless journey to this ancient craft hub.

The Hanoi Department of Transport is taking proactive steps to ensure that bus routes, stops, and passenger pick-up and drop-off points are well-publicized, working collaboratively with relevant agencies.

In addition to the new route, the plan optimizes existing routes for improved efficiency and better passenger service. This includes the discontinuation of five underperforming subsidized bus routes (10A, 10B, 14, 18, and 145), ensuring a more streamlined and effective bus network.

The new bus network, expected to hit the roads in 2024, is a testament to Hanoi’s dedication to enhancing public transportation and reducing traffic congestion.

Nestled just 12 kilometers from downtown Hanoi, Bat Trang Pottery Village is a cultural gem, intertwined with the ancient city of Thang Long (now Hanoi). Visitors are immersed in a world of traditional pottery-making, ancient architecture, and unique local festivals, customs, and cuisine. It offers a glimpse into the past, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking cultural immersion and exquisite handcrafted souvenirs.
