The upcoming event, a collaborative effort between Kim Dong Publishing House and the French Institute in Vietnam, promises an engaging experience for readers and fans of the beloved characters Astérix and Obélix. This festival celebrates not only the enduring appeal of these iconic characters but also marks the 65th anniversary of the first volume of the Asterix comic strip series, “Asterix the Gaul.”

The festival will kick off at the Kim Dong Publishing House’s headquarters in Hanoi on July 20 and then move to the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) in Ho Chi Minh City on July 27. It offers a diverse range of activities and attractions for attendees.

Readers will have the opportunity to view an exhibition featuring 21 drawings by winners of a unique competition that depicted Astérix playing sports with Vietnamese youths. Additionally, they can participate in sports games and quizzes that bring to life the epic tale of Asterix and his loyal sidekicks. A special screening of the film “Astérix and Cleopatra” will also be held for fans to enjoy.

One of the highlights of the event will be an exclusive meeting with the book production team, where participants can engage in conversations and gain insights into the creation of the beloved “Astérix” book series, which has captivated generations of readers.

“Asterix the Gaul,” created by the talented duo René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, holds a notable position in literary history. It was recognized as the 23rd greatest book of the 20th century in Le Monde’s 100 Books of the Century poll, conducted by Fnac and the Paris newspaper Le Monde in 1999.
