The Binh Dinh Province is set to host a spectacular festival celebrating the essence of its land and sea, taking place from July 11 to 15 in the beautiful city of Quy Nhon. This highly anticipated event, known as the “2024 Binh Dinh Essence of Land and Sea Festival,” will showcase the region’s unique culture, cuisine, and natural wonders to visitors from near and far.
According to Lam Hai Giang, Deputy Chairman of the Binh Dinh People’s Committee, the festival will serve as a platform to promote the province’s tourism appeal and showcase the beauty of its land and people. It aims to present the image and brand of Binh Dinh ocean tuna to domestic consumers and exporters, contributing to the development of the fishing, processing, and trading of this specialty seafood.
Kicking off the five-day event is a workshop on July 11, focusing on the fishing, processing, and trading of ocean tuna in Binh Dinh. This will be followed by a vibrant art and music program at the Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, featuring performances by renowned Vietnamese singers. Each day during the festival, a special culinary program, ‘Introducing the Culinary Art of Ocean Tuna,’ will showcase delicious ways to prepare tuna, with 1,500 free food vouchers offered to visitors, along with the opportunity to taste creations by top chefs.
Among the highlighted chefs are Chef Kim Bernard Chilcott, who will present his signature tuna salad with spicy coconut sauce, and Chef Ly Kim Long, listed in the ‘Top 100 Best Chefs of 2023,’ who will prepare tuna curry with Tam Quan coconut, a specialty fruit of Binh Dinh. Matsuo Tomoyuki, Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Culinary Culture Association, will also showcase his expertise in preparing tuna sushi.
The culinary program will take place at the Children’s Park on An Duong Vuong Street from 5:30 pm each day. Additionally, a fair featuring seafood specialties and handicrafts from villages across the province will be held at the same location, with participation from restaurants, businesses, and craft villages specializing in local products from Binh Dinh and other provinces such as Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Tay Ninh, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Da Nang, Ha Tinh, Lao Cai, and Thai Nguyen.
One of the unique highlights of the fair will be a giant sizzling tuna pancake, specially prepared by chefs from Ho Chi Minh City. The excitement continues with a street festival on July 14 at 5 pm, themed ‘Binh Dinh Welcomes Summer,’ starting at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square and continuing with a parade along the streets bordering Quy Nhon beach.
As the festival draws to a close on July 14, a stunning light festival, a first for the province, will illuminate the city, leaving lasting memories for both tourists and locals alike. Deputy Chairman Giang expressed confidence that the event would create unforgettable experiences for all who attend.
