Since early September, the Can Tho University has been filled with Mid-Autumn vibes, where nearly 70 students gathered for the charitable project.
Under the skillful hands of the young students, hundreds of colorful lanterns have been crafted out, from star-shaped lanterns to carp lanterns, unicorns lanterns, to name a few. All were made out of recycled materials, including cardboard, posters, used water cans. As bamboo sticks are relatively rare in the inner-city, the students had made their way to the remote areas to get some. On top of that, the volunteers also prepared musical performances for the “Fullmoon night”.

Nguyen Phuc Thinh, head of the Future Green Club, said “We’re planning to hand these gifts over to the children at Ngai Xuyen A primary school, in Ngai Xuyen commune, Tra Vinh on Sep 26-27”.
“I hope the students have more bonding opportunities to better understand each other, and also gain a sense of altruism”, he said, adding that the students would bring the volunteering spirits, enthusiasm, and responsibility to the community.
Tran Thuy Tien, Secretary of the Youth Union of Can Tho University, said that this activity was of great significance and has been held for years. The Future Green Club wants to make all the lanterns and other gifts all by themselves instead of buying, which is both more meaningful and environmentally-friendly.
