The Binh Thuan Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, co-organized an event themed “Yoga for Women Empowerment.” This event celebrated the cultural similarities between Vietnam and India while promoting sustainable tourism development.
The mass performance encouraged a positive and healthy lifestyle, highlighting the benefits of physical exercise for mental well-being and stress relief. It also fostered a sense of community among participants.
Bui The Nhan, deputy director of the department, emphasized that the International Yoga Day event in Binh Thuan held significant meaning as it coincided with the 52nd anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 17th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries. This event strengthened the bond between the province, the Indian Consulate General, and the people of Vietnam and India.
The United Nations (UN) designated June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, recognizing the ancient practice’s physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. Originating in India, yoga has spread worldwide, with the Sanskrit word ‘yoga’ meaning ‘to join or to unite,’ reflecting the union of body and mind.
