According to a statement made by Miss Universe Vietnam UniMedia Company Limited, the organisers have come to the conclusion that the global pageant must be postponed to ensure the health and safety of all contestants amid fears surrounding the global spread of COVID-19.

As a result, the occasion is now scheduled to take place in the United States during the first quarter of 2021, the organisers added.

With the virus continuing to spread further around the world, the recent decision has received plenty of support from beauty queens globally.

Miss Universe 2020 will be the 69th iteration of the Miss Universe pageant, with Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa set to hand her crown over to her successor at the conclusion of the event.

Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 Nguyen Tran Khanh Van will represent the country at the pageant. The 26-year-old girl from Ho Chi Minh City is set to have more time to sharpen her catwalk and communication skills ahead of the world pageant.
