Premier League leaders Liverpool FC have inaugurated an official store in Vietnam, with former forward Luis Garcia sent to cut the ribbon in Ho Chi Minh City.
Garcia was treated to a hip-hop dance performance before he performed the rituals to open the store at the Estella Place shopping mall in District 2 on Sunday, the club said on their website.
“Fans at the event were given the opportunity to meet [the 2005 Champions League winner] during a signing-and-photograph session, while a replica of the Champions League trophy was also installed in store for supporters to take photographs with,” the Merseyside team said.
Supporters in Vietnam can now buy New Balance replica kits and other authentic products from Liverpool FC at the store.
CRC Sports is the club’s partner in running the Vietnam store.
“As a football club with millions of supporters based around the world, it’s incredibly important that each of our fans are able to feel closer to the club wherever they live,” Mike Cox, senior vice-president, merchandising, Liverpool FC, was quoted as saying on their website.
“Our new store in Vietnam will enable us continue to expand our retail operations, so all our fans can enjoy authentic LFC experiences and purchase our whole range of official merchandise.”
Vietnam is crazy about football, said Andrew Fairall, senior vice-president, CRC Sports.
Founded on June 3, 1892, Liverpool FC have won 18 league titles, six European Cups, three UEFA Cups, four UEFA Super Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup, seven FA Cups, and other accolades.
They are now 14 points clear of Manchester City on the Premier League table, having played 21 games compared to the Cityzens’ 22 matches this season.
