Titled “Vietnam Dieu Su,” this innovative, Made-in-Vietnam product merges augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) to recreate historical scenes within the authentic spaces of heritage sites.
This cutting-edge technology transforms visitors from passive observers into active participants, offering a more immersive and intuitive grasp of Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage.
The launch is a highlight of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day 2025, emphasizing the preservation of heritage through technology and bridging the past with the future. By blending modern innovations with traditional cultural elements, the initiative seeks to revitalize heritage tourism and engage younger generations, who are vital to the preservation and promotion of national heritage.
Following the launch, visitors can explore the application at three AR stations located in front of the Nha Thay Do area. These stations feature a traditional village classroom, scenes of candidates preparing for imperial examinations, and a reenactment of the ceremonial return of newly recognized scholars. Each AR point is equipped with interactive devices, allowing visitors to engage directly onsite or download the application for free use on personal devices.
Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Centre for Scientific and Cultural Activities at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, emphasized that this digital product reflects a commitment to making heritage more accessible, particularly to young people, through dynamic cultural education. The project is also poised to serve as a contemporary medium for sharing Vietnam’s scholarly traditions, setting the stage for future technology-driven initiatives in heritage preservation.
International partners at the event highlighted how AR and AI technologies connect generations and eras, enabling visitors to interact with lifelike historical figures and gain deeper insights into the lives of past scholars. These digital experiences are expected to foster a greater public appreciation for Vietnam’s enduring learning traditions and the timeless spirit of lifelong education.
