During a press conference on November 6, Nguyen Nam Nhan, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, announced that the upcoming festival is set to welcome delegations from China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brazil, and other nations.
With the theme “Vietnamese Martial Arts: Uniting for Peace,” the festival aims to celebrate the cultural and spiritual richness of Vietnam’s martial arts heritage while fostering international cultural exchange through the universal language of martial disciplines.
This event also seeks to showcase Vietnam as a nation committed to friendship and peace, while honoring the profound cultural legacy embedded within its martial traditions.
“Vietnamese martial arts transcend mere combat techniques or physical training; they encapsulate cultural and spiritual values honed over millennia. Each movement, drumbeat, and breath reflects affection, national pride, and a yearning for peace,” Nguyen remarked.
Over three days, Le Loi Street will transform into a global martial arts hub, featuring performances and exchanges from international martial arts schools. An open-air stage will showcase disciplines such as Vovinam, traditional Vietnamese martial arts, taekwondo, karate, judo, wushu, muay thai, aikido, pencak silat, MMA, and lion-dragon dance troupes.
Visitors can engage with interactive exhibits like the “Vietnamese Martial Arts Historical Wall,” which chronicles the evolution of Vietnam’s martial heritage and Ho Chi Minh City through displays of weapons, uniforms, and portraits of master practitioners.
A technology exhibition will highlight the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) in martial arts, offering a modern perspective on ancient traditions in the digital age.
The festival is poised to become an annual international cultural and sports event, highlighting Vietnam’s martial heritage and fostering global understanding, cooperation, and connection.
