Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Ta Quang Dong, announced the biennial film festival with a focus on international collaboration and the celebration of cinematic excellence. The festival aims to provide a platform for Vietnamese and global filmmakers to connect, showcase their talent, and discover new voices in the industry.

According to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, the event will also showcase Vietnam as a safe and welcoming destination, known for its hospitality.

The capital city of Hanoi will host a variety of events in November, including opening and closing ceremonies, award presentations, a film project market, and insightful seminars on the cinema industry. A special corner will be dedicated to showcasing German cinema, offering a unique perspective on filmmaking.

The festival will bring together film producers, domestic and international distributors, foreign cultural centers, and the cinema industries of Japan, Germany, Russia, China, and the Republic of Korea. The event will kick off at Thong Nhat (Reunification) Park and continue in the Ly Thai To flower garden, offering a beautiful backdrop for cinematic celebrations.

Outdoor movie screenings, interactions with renowned actors and actresses, and sightseeing tours of Hanoi’s attractions will add to the festival’s allure. For updates on ticket availability and film screening schedules, visitors can refer to the official event website.

HANIFF, first held in 2010, marked a significant milestone as Vietnam’s inaugural international film festival. Since 2016, the festival has embraced a global perspective, inviting participation from cinema industries worldwide, transcending its initial focus on the Asia-Pacific region.

The sixth edition of the festival, initially planned for October 2020, was postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This delay underscores the event’s resilience and commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
