Nguyen Xuan Dai, the director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Hanoi, declared at a working session with the administration of Me Linh District on Thursday that agricultural production must be prioritized. During the meeting, Dai highlighted the importance of improving agricultural production and the need to find the best solutions for the challenges that the district is facing. He also emphasized that all stakeholders must work together to ensure successful agricultural production.

The department will collaborate with Me Linh District to expand high-quality, organic rice fields, invest in machinery and equipment to facilitate post-harvest processing and preservation of agro products, he announced.

At the meeting, the outlying district proposed that the municipal People’s Committee should seek approval from other ministries and agencies to implement a project to upgrade the left embankment of the Red River section that runs through the district. With this in mind, they sought to enhance the safety and sustainability of the region.

The district proposed that the municipal administration devise policies and mechanisms to foster the development of projects that integrate agricultural production, ecotourism, and experience tourism.

Wrapping up the working session, Dai declared that Me Linh is the largest producer of flowers and vegetables in Hanoi, with its agricultural production value steadily increasing.

The district must formulate its directions for agricultural growth during the urbanization period, and extend its flower and vegetable farming areas, he noted.

Agricultural production land covers an area of approximately 8,100 hectares in Me Linh.

Some agro projects in the district have proved to be highly profitable, such as the production of Japonica organic rice or a project combining organic rice production with experiential tourism in Tam Dong Commune. These initiatives have had a positive economic impact on the region, encouraging more people to invest in agricultural activities. Moreover, the organic rice production has enabled farmers to improve their yields while providing a healthier product to consumers. Additionally, the experience tourism project has provided people with a unique opportunity to learn about the local culture and understand the importance of sustainable farming practices. All in all, these projects have had a positive and lasting effect on the district, and will continue to benefit the community for years to come.
