In the spring of 1789, the brave Tay Son army, led by peasant hero Emperor Quang Trung (also known as Nguyen Hue), launched a daring lightning attack on the invading Chinese Qing troops. This decisive battle, known as the Battle of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da, resulted in a swift and remarkable victory for the Tay Son army, ensuring the independence of the nation.

The Chinese Qing dynasty, taking advantage of the chaos within the Dai Viet monarchy, sent an enormous force of 290,000 men led by Sun Shiyi, the viceroy of Liangguang, to invade Vietnam. In response, Nguyen Hue proclaimed himself Emperor Quang Trung and rallied his rebel army to face this formidable threat.

With exceptional military strategy, rapid troop movement, and the support of the local people, Emperor Quang Trung and the Tay Son army achieved a remarkable feat. They recaptured the Thang Long Citadel in just five days, securing the survival of the Dai Viet monarchy and preserving the glorious history of the nation.
