The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism recently hosted a pivotal workshop, outlining a visionary roadmap for cultural industries through 2030.

Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Department, underscored culture’s dual role as a spiritual cornerstone and a catalyst for economic prosperity, elevating the city’s stature. Da Nang aspires to emerge as the premier arts and cultural epicenter in the south-central coast and Central Highlands, while securing a top-three national ranking in cultural industry excellence.

In recent years, Da Nang has strategically invested in cultural infrastructure, expanded creative hubs, and hosted global events like the International Fireworks Festival, Asia Film Festival, and immersive heritage-craft-street art tours, solidifying its cultural identity.

Ha Vy, Deputy Director, highlighted film, broadcasting, and television as pivotal sectors, targeting 19-19.5% annual growth, with ambitions to rank among Vietnam’s top three film hubs.

Challenges persist, including modest cultural enterprises, absence of flagship brands, creative talent gaps, and underdeveloped frameworks, markets, and innovation ecosystems.

The workshop deliberated strategies to propel cultural industries while safeguarding traditional, historical, and regional heritage, synergizing them with tourism and economic growth.

Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, emphasized cultural industries as a vital engine for sustainable economic evolution.

Success hinges on robust political resolve, exemplary governance, and targeted investment. She urged the Department to collaborate with stakeholders in refining policies and pioneering initiatives, fostering an optimal environment for artists and enterprises, and positioning culture as a cornerstone of the city’s growth.
