In a discussion with Tuoi Tre (Youth) on Monday, a representative of Ha Long Cruise Lines Association said the promotion initiative is a part of a province-wide strategy aiming to spur the recovery of the local travel and tourism sector in the remainder of 2020.
Accordingly, the transport fees for a cruise ship carrying 48 tourists on the sightseeing routes 1 and 2 of Ha Long Bay will be lowered to VND1.4 million (US$61) and VND2.1 million ($91), respectively, from the current VND2.6 million ($113) and VND3.5 million ($152).
Individual travelers will enjoy discounted transport fees of VND100,000 ($4.30) and VND150,000 ($6.50) per passenger for cruises on the two routes, slashed from VND150,000 ($6.50) and VND250,000 ($10.80), respectively.
The promotion is effective from mid-May until the end of July 31.
Currently, 62 of Ha Long Cruise Lines Association members have registered to take part in the promotion program.
Quang Ninh, around 150 kilometers east of Hanoi, announced this month it had decided to jump-start its tourism recovery by offering discounts and establishing an ‘alliance’ to increase service quality.
As part of the campaign, the provincial People’s Council has passed some measures to boost the local tourist industry in 2020.
Among them are discounted or free admission charges at many tourist attractions such as Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Museum, Ha Long City, and the Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape in Uong Bi City.
From May 14 until the end of the month and on special days in June and July, visitors are granted free admission to Ha Long Bay, Yen Tu, and Quang Ninh Museum.
For other days in June and July, tourists can enjoy a ‘Buy 1 Get 1’ admission policy at those tourist attractions.
