According to the organizers, the contest is taking place throughout this month in many provinces and cities across the country, with a wide range of activities.
The activities are designed to help the contestants have a better understanding of Vietnam, its culture, and people.
In Hanoi, the contestants donned ao dai (Vietnamese traditional costume), visited Ngoc Son Temple, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, and joined a number of performance art events.
Miss Grand Angola and Nigeria praised the dress, saying it made them feel confident and beautiful.
Joining another activity to learn about the northern Vietnamese culture, the contestants wore ao tu than (a traditional costume commonly worn in the north).
They also visited Thay Pagoda, one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam.
During their time in Vietnam, the beauty queens have had the chance to try Vietnamese food.
Miss Grand Canada expressed her hope to try pho in Vietnam even though she ate the noodle dish before in her home country.
During a trip around Ha Long Bay, the Miss Grand International 2023 contestants had the opportunity to taste food from different regions in Vietnam, namely banh xeo (Vietnamese sizzling crepes), banh beo (steamed rice cakes), and banh cuon (steamed rice rolls).
Che, a type of dessert that comes in a wide range of varieties, also won the hearts of the beauty queens.
After visiting the northern region, the delegation moved to Hoi An in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam where they enjoyed banh beo, banh nam (flat steamed rice dumplings), mi Quang (a type of noodle dish stemming from Quang Nam), Hoi An’s iconic noodle dish of cao lau and che me den (black sesame sweet soup).
“I’m proud to introduce Vietnamese culture, especially cuisine, to the contestants,” Vietnam’s representative at the contest Le Hoang Phuong said, adding that the contenders promised to be back for the food.
Videos capturing the activities have been posted on social platforms to encourage people from around the world to get to know more about Vietnam.
The Miss Grand International 2023 finale is expected to be held on October 25 in Ho Chi Minh City.
