At the event, Museum Director Nguyen Thi Tuyet emphasized that the exhibition celebrates 65 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba, showcasing the museum’s role as a cultural bridge fostering friendship, solidarity, and revolutionary traditions. Through narratives, photographs, and meticulously preserved artifacts, the exhibition honors the deep-rooted connection between the two nations, she remarked.
Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes praised the exhibition as a testament to the historic bond cherished by generations of leaders and citizens from both countries. He underscored the contributions of iconic heroines, including Cuban revolutionary Melba Hernandez and Vietnamese “general” Nguyen Thi Dinh, Vice Commander-in-Chief of the South Vietnam Armed Forces, whose legacies stand as enduring symbols of exemplary bilateral solidarity.
The exhibition features over 200 photographs, documents, and artifacts, organized into four thematic sections. “Under One Flag” explores the shared values and the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1960.
“Two Kindred Hearts” highlights mutual support during challenging periods, such as Cuba’s aid to Vietnam during the resistance war and Vietnam’s solidarity with Cuba amidst the US embargo, while celebrating Nguyen Thi Dinh’s pivotal role in strengthening these bonds.
“Sharing One Beat” illustrates the close collaboration between the two nations’ parties and peoples.
The final section, “Nurturing Friendship,” showcases initiatives by the Vietnam–Cuba Friendship Association, activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and cultural exchanges among younger generations.
During the event, the Cuban Embassy presented the Vietnam Fatherland Front Museum with a historic banner once owned by Melba Hernandez, displayed for the first time alongside Cuban propaganda posters from the 1970s—powerful symbols of the enduring bilateral relationship.
The ceremony also included a panel discussion featuring guests with ties to Cuba, such as film director Nguyen Ha Tiep; Manuel Enrique Montane Enriquez, Deputy Director of the Vietnam–Cuba Genfarma pharmaceutical joint venture and grandson of Melba Hernandez; former Agricultural University of Havana student Phuong Song Lien; and journalist Huynh Dung Nhan, who shared personal reflections on Cuba.
