Six Vietnamese films are set to captivate audiences with free screenings at the Lao National Cultural Hall and Patuxai Square.

The week commences with the documentary “President Kaysone Phomvihane with Vietnam”, a production by the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio. This film offers an insightful look into the life and career of President Kaysone Phomvihane, emphasizing his deep and lasting connection with Vietnam.

Among the highlights is “Red Rain” (Mưa đỏ), directed by Dang Thai Huyen, which garnered the Golden Lotus Award for Best Feature Film at the 24th Vietnam Film Festival. Another notable screening is “Two Mothers” (Hai người mẹ), a poignant depiction of the bond and sacrifices shared by the Vietnamese and Lao people during the Indochina War.

Film enthusiasts will also be treated to the 2025 action thriller “Hijacked” (Tử chiến trên không), directed by Ham Tran. The lineup further includes “Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” (Địa đạo – Mặt trời trong bóng tối) by Bui Thac Chuyen and “Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass” (Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh) by Victor Vu.

The 2025 Vietnamese Film Week in Laos aims to foster a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s history, culture, and people among the Lao audience. Following the screenings, attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with the film crews.
