According to Robert Bissett, Counselor for Political, Cultural and Information Affairs at the Canadian Embassy, the flood-proof road is 45 meters long and 3.5 meters wide.
Funding for the construction of the new road, at CAD10,000 (VND183 million), was donated by the Royal Canadian Navy’s multi-role patrol frigate HMCS Regina. The financial assistance was granted to Khanh Hoa when the vessel visited the province in 2019.
Canadian Defence Attaché in Vietnam Lieutenant-Colonel Loic Roy spoke highly of the defense cooperation between Canada and Vietnam, adding that charitable deeds like the one by HMCS Regina will contribute to the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
At the inauguration ceremony, the Canadian Embassy also donated CAD5,000 to the Hy Vong (Hope) Orphanage in Cam Duc Town, Cam Lam District, to help the disadvantaged people living there.
