Vnukov said he will have a chance to go with President Putin once again to attend the upcoming APECT Summit to be held in Vietnam by the end of this year.
Expressing his high expectations for the upcoming APEC in Vietnam, he said, “I believe that all activities of the upcoming APEC will be a success. The summit will be about a number of issues relating to economic integration in the Asia- Pacific region. In addition, the summit will boost the image of Vietnam to the world”.

After a successful term as an Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, the veteran diplomat was appointed by the President of the Russian Federation as the Ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in December 2014. With his keen experience and professionalism, Vnukov helped to deepen the strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam.
In 2016, as Russia and Vietnam both carried out important elections, the first meetings between new leaders of the two countries had garnered much attention from the media. In this context, Vnukov acted as a conduit for the meetings between high ranking officials, including State President Tran Dai Quang and Vladimir Putin at the APEC summit in Lima, Peru and the visit to Russia of Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc, Defence Minister Ngo Xuan Lich and Public Security Minister To Lam.
In the new millennium, Russia is pursuing a multilateral diplomatic mechanism with an Eastern oriented policy. Therefore, the relationship between Russia and Vietnam will see more success and activities.
“Vietnam is a country of importance to Russia” he emphasised.
Talking about the characteristics of a Russian diplomatic job career, Vnukovquoted a Russian proverb, which means “A Diplomat is not just a useless staff”.

Besides diplomatic meetings with Vietnamese officials, Ambassador Vnukov set aside timefor interacting with people such as acting as a judge for a Vietnam – Russia painting contest for kids and meeting with former Vietnamese students who studied in Russia.
