The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2024 played host to a thrilling competition with the theme ‘Made of Nature Wisdom.’ Italy, the reigning champion in 2017 and 2018, faced off against the U.S., a newcomer to the festival, in a dazzling display of pyrotechnic prowess.

Both countries brought over a century of experience in the pyrotechnics sector to the stage, promising an unforgettable night.

Kicking off the evening, the Italian team mesmerized the audience with a captivating performance that seamlessly weaved together Vietnam’s hit songs, ‘De Vuong’ (King) and ‘Cat Doi Noi Sau’ (Cut Sadness in Half). Their creative use of low-altitude fireworks painted the night sky with special lightning effects that danced across the surface of the Han River.

The Italian display began with a gentle melody, as fireworks blossomed into shapes of flowers, grass, and clouds. As the rhythm intensified, so did the fireworks, culminating in a grand finale of repeated lighting waves that left the audience in awe.

Not to be outdone, the U.S. team raised the bar with a spectacular showcase of their own. They combined the latest fireworks technology with a diverse musical backdrop, ranging from violin and rock to EDM and jazz. The result? A breathtaking performance that had the audience in Da Nang cheering for more.

Witness the U.S. team’s extraordinary display:

The festival, taking place from June 8 to July 13, features seven international pyrotechnic teams and a local team from Da Nang, each presenting their unique displays every Saturday night. The competition schedule includes Germany and Poland on June 22, China and Finland on June 29, and the grand finale on July 13.

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival has been a beloved tradition since its inception in 2008, with the French team claiming the championship in 2023. Last year’s festival was a significant boost to the city’s tourism recovery post-pandemic, attracting visitors from near and far.

In the first half of 2023, Da Nang welcomed over 3.5 million visitors, reflecting a remarkable year-on-year growth rate of 116.6 percent. International arrivals soared to 930,000, an increase of 11.3 times compared to 2022, while domestic guests also showed a strong upward trend with a nearly 68 percent surge.
