The People’s Committee of Viet Tri City under Phu Tho Province in northern Vietnam and Phuonglly Media Co. Ltd. jointly held a fashion performance to set three Guinness Vietnam Records in the framework of the Hung Kings’ Temple Festival and the Culture and Tourism Week of Ancestral Land 2023, which kicked off on Thursday and will last until next Saturday.

The three records are the longest ao dai in Vietnam; the longest catwalk, at over 500 meters; and the highest number of people wearing ao dai at a cultural and artistic event, at nearly 4,000 people.

These records will help promote Phu Tho’s tourism to local and foreign investors.

Phuong Ho said the 178-meter-long Non Song Gam Voc (Beautiful Homeland) ao dai was made from brocade. It was completed within nearly two months.

The flap, made from 30 pieces of brocade, features cultural and historic characteristics and landscapes of Vietnam and 3D images of lotus leaves.

“It is a great challenge for me and my team to complete the ao dai,” Phuong Ho said, adding that its back flap had to be divided into pieces for transport by air from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Tho.

Phuong Ho later hired sewing machines and employees to sew and iron the flap.

The ao dai was brought to the Vang Bridge in Phu Tho for performance by six young men, the designer added.

The Non Song Gam Voc ao dai is part of a namesake collection.
