Monsoon Music Festival to Come Back with Innovative Idea

After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the renowned Monsoon Music Festival is finally making its return with a completely reinvented format designed to enrich the spiritual lives of Hanoians and promote local tourism.

According to musician Nguyen Quoc Trung, the Monsoon Music Festival will be held in an entirely new format this year, with a ten-day extravaganza of music at various venues in the capital. From the sound of it, this year’s festival season will be truly unforgettable!

Monsoon Music Festival 2023 is inspired by the names of 36 streets in Hanoi and will be held from October 14 to 22. It will take place in various venues in the city’s Old Quarter, such as Hoan Kiem Lake Pedestrian Street, Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center at No. 50 Dao Duy Tu, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, and others. The festival is themed “Hang Nhac Street” and promises to be an unforgettable event for music lovers.

The music festival attracts the participation of more than 40 local and international artists/bands, interpreting more than 70 performances and nearly 4000 minutes of musical immersion, spreading the festive atmosphere throughout the city.

“We want to bring music to every corner of Hanoi, infusing the city with a vibrant and festive atmosphere, thus satisfying the needs of the local community for enjoyment and at the same time attracting more tourists to the capital,” he said.

At the press conference, the Deputy Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee, Nguyen Quoc Hoan, spoke about the success of the Monsoon International Music Festival. He highlighted that the event has become an integral part of the capital’s cultural events, taking place every October. It has brought together a variety of talented artists from all over the world, providing an opportunity for locals and tourists to enjoy a unique experience. Moreover, it has become a platform for the district to strengthen its cultural exchanges with different countries.

“The highly anticipated comeback of the Monsoon Music Festival will bring a new wave of motivation to performers and cultural professionals in Hanoi, as well as work towards reinforcing Hanoi’s status as a ‘Creative City’ as part of UNESCO’s Creative Cities network across the globe,” he emphasized.

The opening night of the music festival will be held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Sword Lake on October 14, 2023. With the aim to bring the locals and tourists an unforgettable experience, the festival will bring together talented musicians from all over the world. It promises to be an exciting night of celebration and entertainment.

The “Hang Nhac Street” performance week is set to take place at over 10 venues in Hoan Kiem District’s Old Quarter in Hanoi from October 15th to 20th. During this week, music enthusiasts of the city can enjoy the lively atmosphere with a variety of songs and dances performed by local and international bands alike. The closing nights of the Monsoon Music Festival 2023, titled “Thang Long Thanh Hoi” (The Festival of Thang Long Imperial Citadel), will occur on October 21 and 22 at 8 pm at the historic site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel. This highlight performance of the Monsoon Music Festival will be held at the same venue, at the same time, for five consecutive years starting in 2023.
