The Pratibha Kala Kendra folk dance troupe from India will be performing energetic and captivating shows throughout Vietnam from March 26th to March 31st. This invitation comes from the Embassy of India in Vietnam and local authorities in Hanoi, Ha Nam, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, and Yen Bai.

Under the leadership of renowned choreographer and artistic director Pratibha Sharma, the troupe consists of highly skilled dancers, musicians, and costume designers.

Pratibha Kala Kendra is well-known for their dynamic performances of traditional Indian folk dances. Audiences in Vietnam can expect a vibrant display of Indian culture, with various folk dances from different regions of the country, particularly the Braj region.

Aside from showcasing the rich heritage of Indian folk dance, the tour also aims to enhance cultural understanding and strengthen the bond between India and Vietnam.

“We are thrilled to bring the diverse tapestry of Indian folk dances to the Vietnamese people,” expressed Pratibha Sharma.

“Our goal is not only to entertain, but also to share India’s cultural heritage and traditions with our Vietnamese friends,” she added.

In addition to their exciting performances, the troupe will conduct an interactive workshop where audiences can learn about the history, techniques, and significance of Indian folk dance directly from the artists themselves.

The tour will kick off with an opening performance at the National University of Arts Education in Hanoi on March 26th. This will be followed by a workshop at the Vietnam Academy of Dance, another performance at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and shows at Tam Chuc Pagoda Complex in Ha Nam province, Thai Nguyen University, and Vietnam-India Secondary School in Thai Nguyen province on subsequent days. The tour will conclude with performances in Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces on March 30th and 31st respectively. The troupe, specializing in northern music and dance, is comprised of 14 dancers and singers and is directed by Pratibha Sharma.

Pratibha, who hails from the state of Uttar Pradesh, developed a passion for the folk dances of the Braj region from a young age. She is a renowned choreographer of Charkula dance and other folk dances from the Braj region.

The Pratibha Kala Kendra Academy is dedicated to preserving and promoting the folk dances of the Braj region, as well as improving the lives of the performing artists associated with it. Through training and performance opportunities, the academy has supported over 500 families of performing artists.
