Cinematic Celebration of the 2025 Reunification: A Special Screening Event

The Hanoi Times — The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has announced a special film screening program to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Reunification. The program, titled “Cinematic Journey Through Unity,” will be held in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and is an ode to the indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people.

From April 21-26 in Hanoi, the capital, audiences will be treated to a diverse range of feature films and documentaries. The curated selection delves into the revolutionary wars, cultural evolutions, and the journey to independence, offering a window into the courage and resolve of the Vietnamese people during those transformative years. It is a celebration of their resilience, sacrifice, and unity.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the film week commences in Q2 of 2025, with an opening event on April 7. The films showcased will highlight the dramatic shifts in Vietnam’s history, from the revolutionary struggles to the post-war renaissance, and the cultural, economic, and social transformations that followed. It promises to be a cinematic journey through time, celebrating the nation’s rich heritage and instilling a sense of patriotism and pride.

Beyond the screenings, the event facilitates a unique exchange between filmmakers, scholars, and witnesses of history. These discussions offer young audiences a deeper understanding of the challenges faced and the sacrifices made, reminding them of their role in preserving Vietnam’s cultural legacy. A special exhibition, “Echoes of the Great Victory,” featuring 300 evocative photos, will also be held in Ho Chi Minh City, opening on April 5.

April 30, Vietnam’s Reunification Day, marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s history, and this commemorative film program is a tribute to that defining chapter.
