Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said that the recognition for the site illustrates the Party and State’s gratitude to the ancestors who made great exploits towards national construction and defence.

It is also an acknowledgement of the efforts made by the Quang Ninh provincial Party committee, authorities and people in preserving and promoting the locality’s traditional cultural and historical values, he added

He called on the local authorities to accelerate the development of a green growth model, with a focus on boosting the tourism sector, in order to turn Quang Ninh into an international tourist centre and economic hub in the northern region.

The province was also requested to enhance the management of historical and tourist sites, while diversify its tourist products and safeguarding its tangible and intangible cultural heritages.

Located in Cam Pha city, Cua Ong Temple is one of the most popular places of worship in the northeast region. It commemorates Tran Quoc Tang, a hero in the resistance war against Mongolian invaders under the Tran Dynasty in the 11th century. The temple consists of three areas including the Lower Temple, Middle Temple and Upper Temple.

The Cua Ong Temple Festival 2018 included an incense offering at Thuong Temple, a procession, and folk games.
