During her acceptance speech, Huyen emphasized the ongoing challenge filmmakers face in crafting historical narratives that resonate with younger audiences. Huyen praised this year’s festival as a resounding success, highlighting the exceptional audience reception for films from both independent studios and state-backed organizations. As Vietnam’s premier biennial cinema event, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the festival honored two documentaries, two animated films, and one scientific film with the prestigious Golden Lotus Awards.
The Silver Lotus Awards were presented to three standout productions: *Dia Dao – Mat troi trong bong toi* (*Tunnel: Sun in the Dark*), *Tu chien tren khong* (*Hijacked*), and *Chi dau* (*The Real Sister*).
In the acting categories, Phuong Anh Dao was named Best Actress for her role in *Mai*, while Tuan Tran secured Best Actor for his performance in *Mang me di bo* (*Leaving Mom*). Supporting Actor accolades went to Hong Dao (*The Real Sister*), Bao Dinh (*Hijacked*), and Phuong Nam (*Red Rain*).
Dang Tran Cuong, Director of the Cinema Department, highlighted Vietnam’s remarkable film industry growth. He noted that Vietnam is among the few nations where film production and box office revenues have surpassed pre-pandemic levels, with Vietnamese films now comprising nearly 70% of cinema screenings. This achievement, he stated, is underpinned by political stability, economic growth, improved living standards, and the unwavering creativity of filmmakers.
