Hanoi is set to celebrate its cultural heritage with a vibrant autumn festival, commencing on September 13. The opening ceremony, a musical extravaganza, will be hosted in the flower garden of Ba Kieu Temple, with a special focus on commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day on October 10.
The festival promises to be a spectacular showcase of Hanoi’s rich cultural tapestry, with over 150 stalls exhibiting a diverse range of trade village products, delectable seasonal specialties, and unique gifts. These stalls will line the iconic old streets surrounding Hoan Kiem Lake, including Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Thach, as well as the Octagonal House area—a true celebration of Hanoi’s historical charm.
One of the festival’s most anticipated moments will be a reenactment of a joyous scene from the Capital Liberation Day in 1954, with local people waving flags and flowers to greet the victorious army. This will be a powerful reminder of Hanoi’s proud history and a chance for visitors to connect with the city’s past.
Attendees can also expect to be captivated by mesmerizing dance performances, including folk and sports dances, as well as a graceful fashion show featuring the elegant Ao Dai, Vietnam’s traditional long dress. There will be something for everyone, with young visitors having the opportunity to join parades, express their creativity in painting activities, and explore exhibitions of children’s artwork.
The festival will also feature a space dedicated to Hanoi’s year-round floral displays, offering a colorful and fragrant experience. In addition, an entertainment area will provide a lively showcase of the capital’s distinctive cultural heritage, ensuring a fun-filled experience for all.
Foodies will be delighted by the culinary offerings, with a dedicated space featuring some of Hanoi’s most famous delicacies. From the iconic Phở (noodle soup) and Chả Cá (grilled fish) to the unique Bún ốc Hồ Tây (West Lake snail noodles) and the delicious Phú Thượng sticky rice, visitors will embark on a gastronomic journey that will leave them with unforgettable memories of Hanoi’s distinct flavors.
This will be the second edition of the Hanoi Autumn Festival, following its successful debut in 2023, which attracted approximately 80,000 visitors. The festival aims to promote the beauty and cultural significance of the city during the enchanting autumn season, offering a unique experience that blends tradition and modernity in the heart of Vietnam’s capital.
