CEO of Nexus Sport Events, Nguyen Tu Anh, who co-organized the race with the Can Tho City’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Department and VPBank, admitted that the traffic and lane division for runners and vehicles during the event were not as strictly enforced as originally planned.

Road closures and traffic restrictions were not enforced where necessary, leading to runners navigating alongside vehicles during rush hours from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday.

On behalf of the organizing committee, Anh extended a heartfelt apology to the participants for the disruption and inconvenience caused by the traffic issues, which impacted the event experience.

He stated that the organizing committee learned from this experience and is committed to avoiding a repeat in future events.

The VPBank Can Tho Music Night Run 2024 marked the first time the event had been held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

Over 7,000 participants joined the race’s three main categories, including 5km, 10km, and 21km, alongside a 1.1km route for children.

The tournament debuted as a sports-music festival, integrating running, singing, dancing, and music, along with various other activities.

The event’s route was dotted with water stations, each featuring a street music stage where bands performed continuously throughout the race.

At the finish line, the largest stage hosted renowned singers and bands.

Additionally, food stalls and spaces showcasing local culture spotlighted the riverine beauty of Can Tho City, which is located about 170km from Ho Chi Minh City and famed for landmarks like Ninh Kieu Wharf and Cai Rang Floating Market.
