Vietnam’s Weather Update (Feb 28): Northern Region Braces for Stronger Cold Spells

On February 28th, the North of Vietnam is expected to experience harsh winter weather, marked by low temperatures and freezing conditions.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, there is a cold air mass moving towards the Northern region, while the South continues to experience sunny days.

The forecast predicts that by this evening and tonight, the cold air will affect the Northeast region, and then move to some areas in the Northwest. The inland Northeast wind is expected to gradually strengthen to level 2-3, while coastal areas will experience level 3 winds.

In the Northern and North Central regions, the weather will remain cold. Since February 27, the Northeastern region has been extremely cold, especially in the mountainous areas. During this cold wave, the lowest temperatures in the Northeast range from 11-14 degrees, while in the Northern mountainous areas, they range from 8-11 degrees. In some high mountainous areas, temperatures can drop below 8 degrees.

Due to the influence of the cold air, there will be scattered rain and light rain in the Northern and North Central regions. Thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds. The rest of the country will experience sunny days.

The weather forecast in different regions:

Northwest region: The weather is predicted to be cloudy with scattered rain in the morning and evening. The weather will be very cold, especially in the evening. Lowest temperature: 14-17 degrees, with some places below 14 degrees. Highest temperature: 18-21 degrees, with some places above 29 degrees.

Northeast region: The weather will be cloudy with scattered rain in the morning and evening. The mountainous areas will be freezing. The lowest temperature will range from 11-14 degrees, with some high mountainous areas dropping below 8 degrees. Highest temperature: 15-18 degrees, with some places below 12 degrees.

Thanh Hoa – Thua Thien Hue: The weather is forecasted to be cloudy with scattered light rain, and sunny in the afternoon. Lowest temperature: North 16-19 degrees, South 20-22 degrees. Highest temperature: North 19-22 degrees; South 25-28 degrees.

Da Nang – Binh Thuan: The weather is forecasted to be cloudy and sunny in the afternoon. Lowest temperature: 21-24 degrees. Highest temperature: 29-32 degrees.

The Southern region: The weather will be cloudy and sunny in the afternoon, with no rain at night. The Northeast wind will be at level 2-3. Lowest temperature: 23-26 degrees, with some places in the East dropping below 22 degrees. Highest temperature: 32-34 degrees.

The Central Highlands: The weather is predicted to be cloudy and sunny during the day, with no rain at night. Lowest temperature: 17-20 degrees. Highest temperature: 31-34 degrees, with some places above 34 degrees.

Hanoi: The weather is forecasted to be cloudy with scattered light rain in the morning. The Northeast wind will be at level 2-3. Lowest temperature: 12-14 degrees. Highest temperature: 16-18 degrees.

Ho Chi Minh City: According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather in the Ho Chi Minh City area will remain hot from morning to afternoon, with the highest temperature commonly reaching 34-36 degrees. The temperature will fluctuate between 34-36 degrees, which is unchanged from previous days.

Da Nang: According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, the weather in the Da Nang area will be sunny and rainy in the afternoon and evening. The temperature will fluctuate between 27-28 degrees, which is 1 degree lower than the previous day. The relative humidity will range from 65-72%, and the cloud density will be between 29-43%.
