The Vietnam Peace Committee in collaboration with the Vietnam – US Society held a meeting to celebrate the 100th birthday of the late composer Do Xuan Oanh, former Vice President and Secretary General of the World Peace Protection Committee of Vietnam (now Vietnam Peace Committee).
This event was an opportunity to honor the late musician’s contributions to the revolution, people-to-people diplomacy, and the country’s arts.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Uong Chu Luu of the Vietnam Peace Committee (VPC) reviewed the revolutionary career of the late musician Xuan Oanh.

According to Chairman Uong Chu Luu, the late musician was not only a talented artist, translator, and journalist but also an excellent people’s diplomat. He made significant contributions to the people-to-people diplomatic front.
Do Xuan Oanh played an important role in establishing the World Peace Protection Committee of Vietnam and participated in international peace conferences. His sincere and inspirational style of dialogue and conversation convinced and inspired many international partners and friends.

During the meeting, a documentary was shown, highlighting Xuan Oanh’s dedication to the revolution and people’s diplomacy.
Journalist Do Le Chi, the youngest son of Xuan Oanh, expressed gratitude for the recognition and shared his pride in his father’s legacy. He also emphasized the importance of Xuan Oanh’s contributions to the revolutionary cause, peace, and friendship between peoples, especially Vietnam-US relations.

Vu Xuan Hong, former President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), spoke about Xuan Oanh’s significant contributions to people-to-people diplomacy and emphasized the importance of preserving and digitizing valuable documents related to his diplomatic work. He hopes that the Vietnam Peace Committee and colleagues will continue researching and collecting these documents for future reference.
