The event, which will run until September 2, is part of Visit Vietnam Year 2023 with the theme of “Binh Thuan – Green Convergence.”
The Vietnam Art and Culture Exhibition Centre, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is co-organizing the event with the People’s Committees of coastal provinces and cities, including Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Dang Chuong, Director of the Vietnam Art and Culture Exhibition Centre, emphasized the significance of Vietnam’s cultural heritage in relation to the sea and islands.
The exhibition aims to promote and honor the unique cultural and tourism values of the sea and islands to the people and international friends. It also aims to raise awareness, national pride, and community responsibility in managing, conserving, and promoting these values.
At the exhibition, 22 coastal localities across the country will showcase their marine tourism potential, including typical festivals, destinations, and handicraft products.
Vietnam has over 3,200 km of coastline and about 1 million sq.m of exclusive economic zones, including more than 40 bays, 2,773 coastal islands, and various archipelagos such as Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.
In particular, the coastal area is home to world cultural and natural heritages such as Ha Long Bay, Trang An scenic spot, Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, Complex of Hue Monuments, Hoi An ancient town, and famous biosphere reserves, national parks, caves, beautiful beaches, and unique traditional festivals.
These factors contribute to the development of Vietnam’s tourism culture and the cultural identity of the country’s sea and islands.
Joy and pride in international recognition of national heritages

Decoration art in traditional costume of Red Dao people recognised as national heritage
NDO – The Tuyen Quang provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Na Hang district’s authorities hosted a ceremony on October 12 to receive a certificate honouring the decoration art in traditional costumes of local Red Dao ethnic groups as a national intangible heritage.
Exhibition to honour Vietnamese heritage
NDO – The "Vietnamese Cultural Heritage 2018" exhibition will take place in Hanoi from November 23 to 25, as one of the cultural events to honour and promote the values of national cultural heritages of various regions, especially the Vietnamese heritages that have been recognised by UNESCO.
