ASEAN Foreign Ministers convene in Khanh Hoa

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh chaired the AMM Retreat which was also attended by ASEAN Foreign Ministers and ASEAN Secretary General Lim Jock Hoi.



This is the first meeting of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers in 2020, where they discussed the priority of ASEAN 2020, especially building the Community, promoting ASEAN external relations and international and regional issues. 

The Ministers expressed their support for the theme and orientations that Vietnam has proposed for ASEAN 2020, saying that they focus on strengthening solidarity, promoting economic links, enhancing intra-bloc trade and investment, consolidating sub-regional cooperation, and improving the image of the ASEAN Community.

The ministers discussed the East Sea issues, emphasizing the need to fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties on the East Sea to create an environment of mutual trust and actively promote negotiations towards building a result-oriented, effective code of conduct in accordance with international law.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said Vietnam will do its best, fulfilling its task as ASEAN Chair 2020, and cooperating with countries for a peaceful, stable and prosperous region./.
