Early on Wednesday morning, Vietnam time, Linh and Anh, both competitors at the 2024 Paris Olympics, secured impressive wins at the tournament.

Linh, the fifth seed in the 63kg weight class, dominated her round-of-16 match against Venezuela’s Alcala Omailyn, winning 4-1.

In the quarterfinals, she will face off against Sorokina Jekaterina of Latvia.

Anh, competing in the 54kg category, started her campaign with a bang, defeating Zhao Xuan from China 5-0 and then going on to beat the eighth seed, Zeynab Rahimova of Azerbaijan, with a score of 5-2.

Anh’s next challenge will be against the top seed, Bertal Widad of Morocco, in the quarterfinals.

Both Linh and Anh are scheduled to continue their fights later on Wednesday night, Vietnam time.

The 2025 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships is currently taking place in Niš, Serbia, from March 8 to 16, with Vietnam’s boxing team sending eight talented athletes to participate.

The team made a notable impact at the 2023 tournament, with Nguyen Thi Tam achieving the runner-up position in the 50kg weight division.

In addition to the World Championships, Vietnam’s boxing squad will also be competing in a series of upcoming events this year, including the Asian Junior Boxing Championships (March 10-24), the Asian Youth & U22 Boxing Championships (April 14-28), the Asian Boxing Championships in June, the Asian Youth Games in September, the Asian Boxing Cup in November, and lastly, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in December.
