Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Colombian center forward, Karen Andrea Cabrera, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

The 2001-born striker, standing at 1.77m, boasts a formidable physical presence and technical prowess, attributes that perfectly align with head coach Doan Thi Kim Chi’s vision for the team.

Cabrera’s strength and dominance in the penalty area address a crucial gap in the squad’s previous lineup, adding a new dimension to their offensive capabilities.

The Colombian is expected to form a dynamic strike partnership with Vietnamese star, Huynh Nhu. The duo’s contrasting styles, with Cabrera’s power and presence complemented by Nhu’s agility, could prove to be a lethal combination in front of goal.

She becomes the second foreign addition to the Ho Chi Minh City roster this season, joining center-back Aubrey Rae Goodwill, who was unveiled last week.

With one more foreign player slot available, the club is poised to continue their squad reinforcement ahead of a crucial quarter-final clash against Abu Dhabi Country Club from the UAE on March 22nd at Thong Nhat Stadium.

The tournament’s quarter-final stage will also see Group A winners, Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women’s FC of South Korea, face off against Iran’s Bam Khatoon FC earlier on match day.

The following day, defending champions Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies of Japan will clash with China’s Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC. Australia’s Melbourne City FC, unbeaten in Group B, will take on Taiwan’s Taichung Blue Whale Women’s FC in what promises to be an exciting encounter.

With the semifinals and final slated as single-leg matches at a centralized venue, the competition intensifies as teams gear up for the decisive stages on May 21-24.
