Vietnam Coast Guard Embarking on Joint Maritime Exercise with Japan

The trip aims to strengthen the friendly relationship, mutual understanding, and trust between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Japan Coast Guard, contributing to strengthening exchange, cooperation, and development between the two forces.

Colonel Le Thanh Hai will lead his team to Kobe city (Japan) to carry out a number of activities here such as meeting local authorities and leaders of the Japan Coast Guard, exchanging and sharing operational experiences with Region 5 and with the Japan Coast Guard; coordinating search and rescue and fire and explosion prevention training. The Vietnamese team will also visit cultural sites in Kobe city and organize a formal dinner for the two forces.

At the farewell ceremony, Major General Tran Van Tho, Commander of Coast Guard Region 1, emphasized that this is an important political task to commemorate the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relations (September 21, 1973 – September 21, 2023). It is also to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Coast Guard and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Coast Guard Region 1.

The business trip also aims to improve the level of command organization and ability to master weapons and equipment in long-term operating conditions at sea. Lessons from this trip will be used to better organize and participate in foreign defense activities. Additionally, the success of the business trip will contribute to affirming the growth, role, and position of the Vietnam Coast Guard in the region and the world.
