The Vietnamese Association in the United Kingdom (VAUK) and Nova Supply Company on April 30th held the 5th edition of the Kamito Cup 2023, a Vietnamese football tournament in the UK, to commemorate the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, as well as the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK (1973-2023).

The tournament drew 21 teams of Vietnamese people living and working in various areas to compete at Westham Stadium in London.

Hundreds of Vietnamese people living and working in various parts of the UK have assembled at the stadium to cheer for the teams. For many years, the event has been accompanied by Nova Supply Co. and Kamito, the renowned Vietnamese sportswear brand that is sponsoring the tournament for the first time.

The Kamito Cup 2023 strives to create an atmosphere of wellbeing and excitement for teams, athletes, and spectators alike. In addition to sports competitions, the event will also feature a range of beneficial activities such as cultural exchanges, sightseeing tours, and exchanges with the Vietnamese community in the UK.

Attending and delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Canh Cuong, Trade Counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK, strongly affirmed that the national reunification day is an excellent chance for all Vietnamese people to remember and revere the hard work of revolutionary pioneers, heroes, and soldiers who have sacrificed their lives to consolidate and protect the Fatherland.

Cuong expressed his gratitude towards the leadership of VAUK, the Vietnam Business Association in the UK (VBUK), Nova Supply, and sponsor Kamito for their collective effort in organizing this tournament on such a special occasion. The tournament aimed to bring unity to the community, promote the sportsmanship, optimism, and positivity of the Vietnamese people in all situations.

VAUK General Secretary Nguyen Minh Tuyen recently declared that the purpose of the football tournament is to build and strengthen ties between the people, organizations, and enterprises in the Vietnamese community.

Tuyen assured that VAUK will continue to provide support to sponsors in organizing the annual tournament, and simultaneously will choose squads from the UK to take part in tournaments of the Vietnamese community in Europe, including the tournament in Poland slated for August 2023.

In an incredible finale, the Anh Em FC team, comprising of numerous players from Nghe An province, astounded spectators with a remarkable 4-0 victory in the Premier League final against Tam Le FC. In other competitions, Hai Phong FC claimed the C1 Cup title, while Nam Dinh FC earned the C2 Cup.
