A group of five vocational teachers from Vientiane, Laos, are currently undergoing a two-month training program in Hanoi, as per the cooperation agreement between the Party committees and governments of the two capitals for 2022-2025.
Initiated by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, this program aligns with the city’s plan to train vocational teachers from Vientiane, issued on August 21, 2024, for the period of 2023-2025.
Running until May 16, 2025, the course offers specialized skills in hair design, graphic design, and culinary arts. The training is taking place at two esteemed institutions: Bac Thang Long Economic and Technical Secondary School in Kim Chung Commune, Dong Anh District, and Hanoi Secondary School of Cooking, Tourism, and Fashion on Kham Thien Street, Dong Da District.
Highlighting the importance of teacher development, Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, emphasized Hanoi’s commitment to enhancing its already robust and high-quality education system, particularly in vocational training. He attributed the success of Hanoi’s vocational students in international competitions to the excellence of their teachers.
Hanoi has a long history of educational cooperation with Vientiane and other Lao provinces, offering training opportunities to Laotian students in the Vietnamese capital.
According to Cuong, approximately 100 Laotian students have benefited from Hanoi’s training programs over the last decade.
He encouraged Hanoi’s vocational schools to extend their full support to the Lao teachers, ensuring they gain valuable knowledge and skills that will benefit their future employment. Cuong also expressed his hope that the teachers would return to Laos with a deeper understanding of vocational education and serve as ambassadors for further educational exchanges between the two countries.
Faifun Phommachack, representing the Lao teachers from the Vientiane Labor Skills Development Center, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and support from the Hanoi Education Department. She affirmed the teachers’ dedication to making the most of this opportunity, learning from Hanoi’s vocational experts, and applying their newfound knowledge and skills back home.
