“The rolling mountains and lush foliage make Quang Binh a sanctuary, offering a retreat into untouched nature. Dong Hoi, the provincial capital, exemplifies how the locals embrace their natural surroundings, and this is reflected in their cuisine, including specialties like Snakehead Gruel Fish, Eel Vermicelli, and Banh Beo,” Inveen noted.

Located on Vietnam’s north-central coast, Quang Binh borders Quang Tri to the south, Ha Tinh to the north, and the East Vietnam Sea to the east. Despite its relatively small area of over 8,000 square kilometers, it is known as the “Kingdom of Caves,” boasting 404 distinct caves, stunning beaches, and rugged mountains.

The history of Quang Binh is steeped in the reclamation and evolution of its land. Once a part of Van Lang and the Kingdom of Champa, it officially became a territory of Dai Viet in 1306. During the French Colonial Period, it was situated in An Nam, and later, under communist control during the Vietnam War. In 1976, it merged with neighboring provinces to form Binh Tri Thien, only to regain its separate provincial status in 1990.
