The World’s Favorite Vietnamese Pho Steals the Show at the ASEAN Cuisine Festival

The ASEAN Committee in Prague hosted an exciting culinary event, the ASEAN Cook Show 2024, on May 16 in the beautiful city of Prague, Czech Republic.

At the ASEAN Cook Show 2024 in Prague, guests were treated to a delicious showcase of Pho, Vietnam’s iconic dish. They raved about its balanced flavor and delicate ingredients, a vibrant blend of tastes and textures that tantalized their taste buds.

The event was a culinary celebration, bringing together chefs from renowned restaurants and hotels across ASEAN member countries. It also attracted diplomatic guests from the Czech Republic, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the diverse cuisines of Southeast Asia.

A feast of flavors was presented, featuring Laab Gai from Thailand, Pho from Vietnam, Suman from the Philippines, Bebek Betutu from Indonesia, Roji Jaja & Kari Ayam from Malaysia, and Shwe Htamin from Myanmar. It was a true testament to the culinary diversity of the region.

In an interactive twist, the diplomatic guests were guided by the chefs to prepare and cook the traditional dishes themselves. This hands-on experience gave them a deeper understanding of the unique flavors and ingredients that define Southeast Asian cuisine. The Vietnamese delegation, in particular, shared the secrets of preparing, cooking, and savoring the perfect bowl of Pho.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Duong Hoai Nam, praised the event and the ASEAN Committee in Prague for their efforts in promoting the culinary heritage of Southeast Asia. He highlighted Pho as a signature dish of Vietnam, a culinary ambassador that has earned its place on the global food map.

The Ambassador also shed light on the sophistication and richness of Vietnamese cuisine, which demands a master chef’s techniques and a skillful blend of ingredients. He noted that Vietnamese food, like Pho, is gaining popularity in the Czech Republic, with more restaurants opening up to cater to the local community’s growing appetite for authentic Asian flavors.

As the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic flourishes, so does the popularity of its cuisine. Vietnamese restaurants are sprouting up across the country, and their dishes are highly regarded among Asian culinary options. For the locals, Vietnamese food has become a beloved favorite.
