The insights were unveiled through a comprehensive big data analysis program, which assessed the search volume on Google Trend Index and Naver during the first week of July and contrasted it with the last week of June.

According to the findings, South Korean travelers are displaying a heightened interest in exploring various destinations within Vietnam.

For the first week of July, Phu Quoc Island, nestled in Vietnam’s southern province of Kien Giang, secured the top spot with an impressive 12,855 points. This marked a significant increase of 2,962 points compared to the last week of June. Following closely behind, Nha Trang, a charming city in Khanh Hoa province, claimed second place with 10,157 points. Tokyo, Japan, completed the top three destinations with 3,796 points.

Hanoi, the enchanting capital of Vietnam, also secured a spot within the top 15 destinations. Other notable cities in this prestigious group include Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Nagoya and Kyoto in Japan, Barcelona in Spain, Paris in France, New York in the US, Sydney in Australia, Shanghai in China, and Munich in Germany.

The survey further delved into the preferences of different genders and age groups for each city. Notably, Phu Quoc Island proved more enticing to female travelers, accounting for 67% of the survey data.

Earlier this year, renowned travel site Tripadvisor recognized popular Vietnamese beach destinations such as An Bang (Hoi An), Da Nang, and Nha Trang as some of Asia’s most stunning beaches, as voted by their readers. According to Tripadvisor, Vietnam’s sandy shores attract a substantial number of international visitors during the peak tourism season.

Even before the peak season, South Korea stood as the leading source of visitors to Vietnam in Q1 2024, with over 1.2 million arrivals. Additionally, a host of South Korean celebrities have been flocking to destinations like Nha Trang and Hoi An, further elevating Vietnam’s presence on the international tourism landscape.
